In the Summer of 2019, I was asked to join the team of the Bauch Performing Arts company that was set to tackle a production of Larry Kramer’s “The Normal Heart”. Before I started in earnest, I first made a lot of sketches and tests for the feel of the show. I wanted to convey the gritty reality of the subject matter into the show’s art.

I based the script writing off of a doctor’s prescription handwriting.

After some time, we had decided to shift the production in a new direction and handle a new show. We started work on William M. Hoffman’s “As Is” in Fall of 2019. I had to take some time to find the new direction that the art should take. In an complete 180, the show had shifted color palettes from rich reds to colder, more medicinal blues.
